When the glass doors of Galerie SLP opened on 9 October, 2025, the lively sounds of BIKINI Berlin mixed with a quiet sense of excitement. Inside, Defragmenting Eden was not simply an art display, it felt alive, like an ongoing conversation. The exhibition brought together the unique visions of Tanja Selzer, Laura Eckert, and Daniel Sambo-Richter, each contributing to a fractured Garden of Eden that had been broken apart and carefully put back together in new ways.

About the Exhibition

Defragmenting Eden reimagines the Garden of Eden as a place that is not just about beginnings or loss, but about ongoing change. Here, “defragmentation” means breaking things apart and putting them back together in new ways. In this show, you’ll find the bold paintings of Tanja Selzer, the expressive wooden sculptures of Laura Eckert, and the dynamic layered artworks of Daniel Sambo-Richter. Each artist explores themes of desire, vulnerability, and transformation.

Selzer’s paintings are vivid and atmospheric, blending sensuality with a sense of both danger and hope. Eckert sculpts human-like forms from recycled wood, combining beauty with a feeling of uncertainty. Sambo-Richter creates dramatic, textured landscapes on canvas, showing nature’s power. The result is an emotional journey through art, where each piece is a fragment of a bigger story.

Opening Night Atmosphere

At the vernissage, artists and visitors gathered among the fresh scent of paint and gentle music. Soft lighting highlighted the works, adding to the calm but excited mood. People discussed art over wine, exploring the details and stories behind each piece. Some visitors lingered near Selzer’s large paintings with their deep blues and reds, while others admired the textures and shapes of Eckert’s sculptures. The energy was warm and welcoming, just like most Galerie SLP openings, a space where strangers could connect and share conversations inspired by the art.

Impressions

Many visitors to Defragmenting Eden shared a feeling of being deeply moved by the exhibition’s honest approach to the idea of paradise. The way each piece is put together from fragments invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences with loss and renewal. There is a sense that the artworks are not just showing brokenness, but also the beauty that comes from finding new connections. Walking through the gallery, guests seemed engaged, sometimes even pausing in thoughtful silence, sometimes sharing ideas and emotions sparked by the works. The overall impression was that the show successfully creates both a space for personal contemplation and for lively exchange, making everyone feel a little more connected to the transformation happening within the gallery walls.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience Defragmenting Eden - a powerful, poetic art journey held in the vibrant heart of Berlin.
