ABOUT THE ARTIST

In the late 90s, Binder joined the University of Fine Arts in Berlin, aiming for a teaching career, where she happened to come across felting during a seminar of installation art. For more than 20 years of felt making experience, amused by the versatility and sculptural potential of wool and how coloured fibers can be blended in a painterly way. Damgar’s creations are shaped by hand in a seamless three dimensional and waist free process. Art objects include all kinds of textile or similar fibres, while garments come only with high quality natural materials, such as fine merino wool and silk.
